A look at concerts happening this Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 24-25.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 24
Jonny Craig with Kyle Lucas, Captain Midnite, Down With Webster Whether he’s fronting alt rock bands like Emarosa, Dance Gavin Dance and brand new outfit Slaves, or putting out his own solo R&B records, Canadian musician Jonny Craig is delivering a strong, soulful bari-tenor croon. Craig and frequent collaborators Kyle Lucas and Captain Midnite hit the ‘Burg on tour behind a new Gold Standard/Artery Recordings comp, The Blueprint for Going in Circles, that showcases Craig’s solo style along with Lucas’ quick-witted raps and Captain Midnite’s bass heavy beats. (Local 662, St. Petersburg) –Seth Peterson

Martina McBride Even if you don’t listen to country-pop, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of Martina McBride; she’s got eight platinum-scale albums to her credit (including a greatest hits comp) and her 12th studio LP, Everlasting, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums charts. The collection of covers ranges from “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long” by Otis Redding to a duet with Gavin DeGraw on Sam Cooke’s “Bring It on Home to Me.” (Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater)–Leilani Polk

Patty Larkin The folk rock songstress who came up in Boston in the 1980s is known for her acoustic guitar prowess and poignant lyrical narratives; Rolling Stone has praised Larkin for her “evocative and sonic shading.” This intimate Craftsmen House date supports 13th studio album Still Green. (Craftsmen House, St. Petersburg)–LP

Bruiser Queen St. Louis, Mo. duo Bruiser Queen brings twice the energy and excitement of most rock bands but with only half the members. The lo-fi punk-garage sounds are propelled by the powerful pipes of singer/guitarist Morgan Nusbaum, and songs off 2014 sophomore album Sweet Static range from slow and sweet to trashy and fierce. (Emerald Bar, St. Petersburg) –Adam Hardy

SUNDAY, JANUARY 25
The Rumpke Mountain Boys with Ramblegrass
Cincinnati’s Rumpke Mountain Boys purveys self-styled “trashgrass,” jamming on bluegrass sounds with picked, plucked and strummed guitar, mandolin, banjo and upright bass that are dosed in crispy-fried whiskey-soaked twang and in a live setting, delivered loosely, free of setlist planning and full of improvisation. The quartet are known to play the occasional Dead tune and even toured with Grateful Dead Hour radio host/musician David Gans last year. (Skipper’s Smokehouse, Tampa)–LP

Charles Neville & Gent Treadly The second oldest saxophone-howling Neville brother, Charles, teams up with jammy New York roots-blues purveyors Gent Treadly, which celebrated 20 years in 2014 and are another band in town on this night heavily inspired by the Grateful Dead, backing late member Vince Welnick on some tour dates before his death in ’06. (Dunedin Brewery, Dunedin)–LP

Iris DeMent with Pieta Brown While alt country-folk songstress Iris DeMent isn’t super prolific, she’s made a significant impact with the five LPs released in her more than 25-year career, the last one 2012’s gospel-imbued Sing the Delta. This tour finds warm-up from Pieta Brown, daughter of Iris’ musician husband, Greg Brown and a talented singer-songwriter in her own right, her expressive, high-toned dulcet-sweet vocal quality showcased in Paradise Outlaw, an album recorded over four days at Justin Vernon’s Wisconsin studio and featuring support from the Bon Iver frontman as well as a duet with Amos Lee. (Capitol Theatre, Clearwater)–LP
