Every time the Grammy-winning Brooklyn-bred instrumental jazz-funk fusion ensemble Snarky Puppy hits town, they draw sellout audiences, first to Crowbar, then State Theatre, and next, potentially, to The Ritz Ybor. And this year, Snarky Puppy – an ever rotating assemblage of a few dozen musicians dubbed “The Fam” powered by bass banger, composer and producer Michael League – is primed to become even more well known, following up a well-regarded chart-topping Metropole Orkest collab (Sylva, which earned a Grammy nom in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album category) with a 10th LP showcasing their full-bodied brass-fused sounds. Family Dinner - Volume 2 was recorded in front of a live studio audience with guest instrumentalists and vocalists from around the globe, and a documentary/concert-film about the event will screen in select theaters in conjunction with the album’s release this February. 7 p.m. doors, 8 p.m. show, The Ritz Ybor, Ybor City, $30-$35.
