A look at what's happening in live music on this Sat., Aug. 29...

An Evening with Dex Romweber with Veiny Hands, Little Sheba & the Shamans Underground roots-rock maverick Dex Romweber has been active since the mid-‘80s beginning with his tenure as one-half of N.C.’s groundbreaking punk-blues twosome Flat Duo Jets. But he wasn’t paid the recognition he deserved until Jack White named-checked Romweber as one of his chief influences and even recorded a 7-inch vinyl release with Dex and sister Sara at White’s Third Man Records space. On his current tour, Romweber appears solo, delivering his country-twangy, punk-kicking mix of rockabilly, surf and R&B classics along with stripped-down takes of Flat Duo Jets and Dex Romweber Duo material. (Crowbar, Ybor City)

Geri X Album Release with Shawn Kyle, Black Coast Royals The Bay area’s mesmerizing mistress of alternative folk-rock sounds has been steadily working on a follow-up to last year’s White Light, and so far, the videos she’s posted previewing new material during her live sessions at Red Room Recorders have found her wounded vocal quality, knife-edged lyrical turns and love-worn subject matter intact. This date celebrates the LP’s completion with some high-quality support. (New World Brewery, Ybor City)

Lita Ford with Kip Winger The raspy-voiced bleach-blonde Brit-American rock songstress who you likely know best from her 1989 duet with Ozzy Osbourne, “Close My Eyes Forever,” returns to the Bay area four months after her last appearance, to a different venue, and with new warm-up via hard rock ‘n’ metal maker Kip Winger, who did some time with Alice Cooper before he went on to front his own eponymous band (Winger). (Capitol Theatre, Clearwater)

7th Avenue Band Slam Homecoming & Taylor Swift Tribute Past winners of The Ritz Ybor’s now-annual battle of the bands competition — Mighty Mongo (2010), Rising Down (2012), Dropin Pickup (2013), and Supros (2014) — re-assemble at the venue to perform a set of original material along with one cover of a Taylor Swift track each. All ages are welcome; admission is $10 in advance, $15 at the door. (The Ritz Ybor, Ybor City)

Keepin’ D Funky Fundraiser Darryl Quesenberry, aka Rev. Funky D, has been kicking out keys-driven jams around the Tampa Bay music scene for more than two decades, and now he needs a little help from his friends. Find out why and read more about Funky D here. (The Amsterdam, St. Petersburg)

The Hummingbirds Album Release Party with Rebekah Pulley, Will Quinlan Read more info here. (Hideaway Cafe & Recording Studio, St. Petersburg)

An Evening with The Mojo Gurus Last year, Southern-fried blues ‘n’ roots rock outfit The Mojo Gurus released a fourth full-length, Who Asked Ya?. They continue to promote the album in 2015, and this particular performance will be recorded for a live release due out sometime in the TBA future. (Palladium Theater, St. Petersburg)

Biscuit Miller & The Mix Infusing a healthy dose of wah-wah funk into his hip-shaking blues-rock jams is Chicago-born, Tallahassee-based Biscuit Miller, a soulfully howling singer and bass-slinger who did some time performing with well-regarded bluesman like Lonnie Brooks and Anthony Gomes before venturing out on his own. His backing band, The Mix, features Dr. Love on drums, and two guitarists, Bobby B. and “Southside” Alex Smith. (Florida Avenue Brewing, Tampa)
