A few shows that should be on your radar this Tue., July 7.
Madd Illz with T & Souljah Bless, J Terra, Basement City, Jimbo Shrump, Figment The'emcee Whether he’s spitting quicksilver bravado over stripped-back beats and Mariachi trumpets in “Cinco de My Flow”– the title track off his 2014 EP – or offering an aggressive solution to political corruption, corporate greed and government suppression ala “We Are Guerillas” (“Death is the only way to stop these fine humans / or become another joke like the Occupy Movement”), Mexican-rooted Orlando-bred emcee Madd Illz is making himself known as a Central Florida hip hop force to be reckoned with. He hits St. Pete on Conscious Mind Records’ current “USA2: The United Slaves of America Tour” to play a free show with several other O-town area artists. (The Bends, St. Petersburg)
American Idol Live Though Fox announced the impending death of American Idol following its 15th season, the top five finalists deemed best by judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. in season 14 are still pumping out AI-fueled material on the road, including smooth pop-rockin’ winner Nick Fradiani, who took home the title after belting fine renditions of Edwin McCain’s “I’ll Be” and new original, “Beautiful Life.” Clark Beckham, Jax, Tyanna Jones and Rayvon Owen also perform in this “Storytellers”-style show, all backed by a live band. (Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater)
