Record Store Day is fast approaching — the national retail holiday hits local indie record shops on Sat., April 18 — and announcements about limited releases due to drop on that day have been storming my inbox. I didn't actually get anything about !!! [Chk Chk Chk]'s All U Writers/Gonna Guetta Stomp 12" vinyl from Warp Records; "All U Writers" just happened to pop up on Soundcloud, launching automatically after a Holy Ghost remix of Hanni El Khatib's "Two Brothers."Of the first new recordings from the group since 2013's THR!!!ER, "All U Writers" maintains the group's house-influenced hard dance grooves, with Nic Offer's falsetto wails joined by the saucier intones of guest Teresa Eggers (from THR!!!ER's "Slyd"), along with clips and splices of a vocal effected to a deep baritone delivering lines like "All u writers, get on your horses and ride."
"It's definitely a club track," Nic Offer has commented. "There's elements in it that are from an original jam that the band was doing, chopped up and fucked with. It's almost like we sampled ourselves."
The release has a regional focus, so not sure we'll actually get it here, but at least we can enjoy jamming one of its tracks. Check it below...
