It's Hump Day, yay! Here's a few shows happening on this Wed., March 18...

BBQ Wednesday Acoustic Series: Laney Jones & The Lively Spirits Mt. Dora roots songstress Laney Jones may be relatively green (her studio debut Golden Road dropped in 2013), but her ginger-whiskey drawl and multi-instrumental talents on banjo, ukulele, tenor guitar and harmonica are without question. She caught some national shine on the Great Performances PBS series when its recent episode about the Kennedy Center’s weekend-long American Voices festival found Laney work-shopping a song with bluegrass great Alison Krauss and getting a glowing seal of approval (“this is beautiful … I can’t wait to see what you’re gonna do next”). Her band includes Curtis Seligson (bass, strings), Matthew Tonner (guitar) and Alex Shames (drums). (New World Brewery, Ybor City) —Leilani Polk

Evergreen Terrace with Famous Last Words To Simpsons fans, Evergreen Terrace is the street that Homer and the clan call home. To metalcore fans, Evergreen Terrace is the Jacksonville-based quintet known for the dueling lead howls of vocalist Andrew Carey and guitarist/singer Craig Chaney. Songs like “Post Satanic Ritual Baby” off sixth and latest LP Dead Horses proves a sonic roller coaster of harsh propulsive sounds. Carey’s vicious guttural verses take you up the hill while Chaney’s clean piping melodies drop you into freefall, down through the careening loops and turns of Alex Varian’s distorted riffs and carried on the tight, pulsing and pounding rhythm section assault of drummer Brad Moxey and bassist Jason Southwell.
