A breakdown of concerts happening this Fri., March 13...

Blair Crimmins and The Hookers with 6 Volt Rodeo Reviving the vibrant ‘20s-vintage sounds of Dixieland, ragtime and gypsy jazz direct from Atlanta comes Blair Crimmins, his band’s songs marked by the bright toots and blares of a NOLA-style horn section (trumpet, trombone, clarinet), ragged tumbling rhythms that pick up speed to tight jauntier tempos and made-for-shimmying swinging, and haunting gospel-hued vocals that back the husky lead calls of banjo-plucking Crimmins. (Skipper’s Smokehouse, Tampa)

Navigateur with Infinite Third, Rude100, Alma Contra Atlanta-by-way-of-Jacksonville multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter Carlos Andujar is the driving force behind Navigateur. He uses a mix of analog and digital synths, vintage drum machines and electric guitars to craft hazy, electro-textured Chillwave soundscapes with down-tempo beats and light breezy melodies. (New World Brewery, Ybor City)

L.A. Guns The music of the ‘80s was defined by hair. Lots and lots of hair. LA Guns is at least partially responsible by way of original founder, singer/guitarist Tracii Guns, he of the black mane and Aqua Net affinities who played a brief stint in the earliest incarnation of Guns n’ Roses before he was replaced by Slash and returned to his original, more tease-tastic band. Thirty years and several lineup changes later, LA Guns no longer includes its namesake, but still fires from both barrels behind Phil Lewis’ high, scratchy vocals, Steve Riley’s crushing drumbeats and Michael Grant’s slick whirring guitar solos. (Brass Mug, Tampa) —Seth Peterson

Sponge CD Release Party Can we just pause, just for a moment, and ponder the notion that Sponge – the post-grunge outfit from Detroit responsible for such ‘90s-era hits as “Plowed” and “Molly (16 Candles Down the Drain)”– is hosting a one-off release party at an Irish pub in Palm Harbor? […] Frontman Vinnie Dombroski is the sole remaining original at present, still leading with deep gritty vocals, and Sponge’s reverb-drenched guitar-squealing 2014 eighth LP, Rotting Alive, was fully funded by Sponge fans via a Pledge Music campaign. Impressive. (Peggy O’Neill’s Irish Pub & Eatery, Palm Harbor)

Dirt Crew with Rob Slac, Brian Busto, Fox Force 005 Break 3000 and James Flavour are Dirt Crew, the electro-house powerhouse duo out of Berlin who’ve been plying untz-tastic percussive-bumping vocal-spliced sounds since the early ‘00s, and establised their own well-regarded house label in 2004. (Hyde Park Café, Tampa)
