After a preliminary announcement breaking down the first round of artists performing at the fourth annual Gasparilla Music Festival, organizers have finally announced the main event headliner for Saturday: Washington-brewed Isaac Brock-led indie rock heavyweights Modest Mouse.
This date falls just after the release of their sixth and latest studio album, Strangers to Ourselves, which drops via Epic Records on March 3 and marks their first recording of original material since 2007's We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.
On a lesser but no less exciting note, New Orleans psych rock/soul/electro rockers Mutemath have also been added to the ever-expanding bill, as have Jamaican roots reggae group The Abyssinians, which join Gogol Bordello, The Gaslight Anthem, Trampled by Turtles, The Budos Band, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Dumpstaphunk, Hiss Golden Messenger, Roadkill Ghost Choir, Hot 8 Brass Band, Margo & the Pricetags, and Packway Handle Band. Local Florida favorites include The Hip Abduction, Miggs, Selwyn Birchwood, Suenalo, Thomas Wynn & the Believers, RedFeather, Amber Lynn Nicol, UNRB and Mt. Zion Gospel Choir. More acts TBA as the fest draws ever nearer...
