Right now, Benjamin Booker is in Germany wrapping up a month-long European jaunt. His next tour — a quick whip through Australia and the UK — kicks off on January 31, but hometown fans will get one chance to see the Tampa boy done good before the year is over. The best part? There’s no cover.
The show — happening next Fri., Dec. 5 — is an official pre-party for 97X’s Next Big Thing and welcomes the 25-year-old to Courtney Campbell Causeway party spot Hogan’s Beach where he’ll support his self-titled ATO debut. Details on whether or not you’ll need to have a ticket to get into the all ages show are still forthcoming and emails to 97X have not yet been returned.
The announcement comes on a particularly good week for the fast rising Booker since his mug was just featured on a full page spread in the latest issue of Rolling Stone, where he was slapped with the “Hot Blues Punk” title as part of the magazine’s annual “Hot List.” Other hotties include One Direction’s Harry Styles (“Hot Golden Boy”), FKA Twigs (“Hot Chameleon,” although she is not a reptile), and Occupy Hong Kong’s Joshua Wong (“Hot Teen Activist”).
Have a look at the magazine spread above, and watch selections below from a recent live set filmed at New York City’s Rockwood Music Hall. Hogan’s Beach is located at 7700 W. Courtney Campbell Causeway in Tampa and more information on Booker’s December 5 show is available via 97Xonline.com. Read Leilani's review of Benjamin Booker here.
