Arca, Xen (Mute)
The Venezuelan-born, London-based DJ, producer and engineer makes some truly avant sounds in his wonky-purple down-tempo experimental electro. Check out some weird sounds set to cool visuals by Jesse Kanda below in the video for "Now You Know" below.
AJ Davila and Terror Amor, Beibi (Burger Records)
Lee Bannon, Main/Flex EP (Babygrande)
Black Clouds, Dreamcation (Collect Records)
Dean Blunt, Black Metal (Rough Trade)
Joe Budden, Some Love Lost EP (eOne Music)
Deerhoof, La Isla Bonita (Polyvinyl)
The art pop/punk-noise/bizarre rock outfit from San Francisco continues their sonic trends with 12th and latest LP. According to the release: "This record is for you if you think the naked emperor’s violin playing is out of tune and has too much reverb. It you aspire to never graduate from the underclass. If you think Coke and Pepsi taste the same. If you think emotion stirred by a computer simulation is as worthless as a bad Chaplin mustache." Check out the intriguingly dreamy-pretty "Mirror Mirror" below.
Deptford Goth, Songs (PIAS America)
Dirty Beaches, Stateless (ZOO Music)
The Doobie Brothers, Southbound (Sony Nashville/Arista)
Bob Dylan, The Basement Tapes Complete: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11 (Legacy)
Empty Moon, The Shark (High Dive Records)
The Oakland-based indie folk project of singer-songwriter Brendan Hangauer (formerly of Fourth of July). This is his first album post-Kansas, spacious well-crafted '70s AM-vibing roots music. Check out the breezy existential quandaries of "75 Degrees" below.
Filmstrip, Moments of Matter (Exit Stencil Recordings)
Gold Lake, Years (Outside Music)
Gospels, Greenhouse EP (self-release)
Calvin Harris, Motion (Columbia)
Ryan Hemsworth, Alone For The First Time (Last Gang/Secret Song)
Les Sins, Michael (Carpark)
The side project of Toro Y Moi primary Chaz Bundick; more indie-unz, in case you were wondering.
Mariachi El Bronx, III (White Drugs/ATO)
The punk band known as The Bronx makes mariachi music as Mariachi El Bronx. This is their third album of the West Mexico style of music.
Bette Midler, It's The Girls (Warner Bros.)

The album that came out in the UK this past may by the Supper Furry Animals frontman.
Trans Upper Egypt, Trans Upper Egypt (Monofonus Press)
On this day it seems that all the weirdo music is making its way into the collective consciousness. Or whatever. This band is particularly mind-fuck trip rock. Check out "Mountains" below.
