St. Vincent with Matthew E. White Annie Clark’s eyes — burning through your soul underneath blue-shadowed eyelids and perfectly manicured brows — are kind of impossible to look away from. The 31-year-old Tulsa-born siren better known as St. Vincent has been an easy-to-crush-on avant-rock icon since her 2007 debut Marry Me, and everything she’s offered after that has been impossible to ignore as well. She’s been promoting the hell out of her self-titled fourth and latest, appearing on shows ranging from Saturday Night Live to The Colbert Report to Later…with Jools Holland, showing off her beguiling guitar work and idiosyncratic vocal stylings, and choreographing her way through singles “Digital Witness” and “Birth In Reverse” with bassist/keyboardist Toko Yasuda. This is her only headlining Florida date before she returns to warm up for the Black Keys at Amalie Arena in December. (Beacham Theatre, Orlando) –Ray Roa
An Evening with John Nemeth Three things you need to know about Idaho-bred modern soul-bluesman John Nemeth: 1) He’s got a gospel-rooted tenor but his howling harmonica takes center stage as much as his commanding vocals; 2) He took was given “Soul Blues Male Artist of the Year” honors at the 2014 Blues Music Awards; 3) He’s a sharp dresser who doesn’t hit the stage without a fedora or homburg atop his head. Jon Bellion He’s got a high and sweetly enchanting pop-music vocal quality, and a lower-toned drawl when he flows raps that run into choruses like in cheesy-charming horn-tooted fame-waxing ode, “Luxury” (“We know you have to leave and we’re not mad at all / you’ll be back in town and we’ll play basket-ball / and if you fall off track, we’ll be your Aderall / we won’t let your soul drown in luxury”). Jon Bellion’s bragging rights come via “Monster,” that Eminem track featuring Rihanna; he co-wrote the chorus. This tour backs his new solo album, The Definition. (Local 662, St. Petersburg)
