The Tampa Bay Lightning hinted at a love for locally-grown music last year when BOTB-winning emcee Jinx released the team’s official playoff anthem. The team doubled down on their belief in the Bay area’s creative culture today by announcing a 10-game pregame concert series that kicks off on October 9 before the Lightning’s regular season home opener against the Florida Panthers.

Bradenton boys gone national Have Gun, Will Travel are set to kick the series off when they take to the Ford Thunder Alley outside of Amelie Arena from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The show is free to the public, but you'll obviously need a ticket if you want to get inside the arena afterwards. The band is currently working on a no-holds-barred new album with Shawn Kyle (The Beauvilles, Florida Kilos), and they’re relishing the opportunity to take a short break to see some hockey.

“It's a first for us. We're excited,” HWGT guitarist Scott Anderson told CL in a message. “There's nothing like seeing NHL hockey live, so we're stoked to play the show and get to go to the game.”

Amalie Arena officials, for their part, are excited to continue their work with Tampa creatives. Last year’s games included the addition of Ol’ Dirty Sundays DJs Casper and Lesage to the in-game entertainment, and Amalie Arena Entertainment Manager Kelli Yeloushan has hinted at more surprises, including more original music for the Lightning’s 2014-15 campaign. "We have a lot of exciting projects in the works this season that incorporate local artists into all aspects of our game presentation," Yeloushan, 33, told CL. "We want to support and showcase the creative homegrown talent in Tampa."

Tickets for the Thurs., Oct. 9 game are still available here. Listen to “Standing At The End Of The World” from HGWT’s latest release, Fact Fiction Or Folktale?, below
