Come October, music festival fans will have no problem spending their disposable income. Live Nation's Coral Skies Festival and St. Pete Folkfest happen on the last weekend of that month, and now a pair of other festivals —Plan B Block Party (October 4) and Don't Stop St. Pete (October 18) — have staked their claim on dates too.
Don't Stop, which will take over seven of the 'Burg's downtown venues, has announced a 40-band lineup that includes Brooklyn indie-rock quartet Beach Fossils, Memphis psych-rockers Ex-Cult, and The Electric Sons. Several dozen local and regional favorites — including BOTB-winning outfits Jensen Serf Co., Alexander & The Grapes, and Set And Setting — round out the bill. Tickets are $15-$20 and are available at Mojo Books & Music, Daddy Kool, Bananas, Planet Retro and online.
Set And Setting will give anyone who buys their new album, A Vivid Memory, one free ticket. Red Bull's poster art program is also giving away a Don't Stop ticket to anyone who goes to their local record store and buys a limited edition Greg "Stainboy" Reinel crafted screen print featuring Atlanta eletro pop group The Electric Sons.
The Plan-B Block party, which announced a huge chunk of its lineup in August, has also added more names to its bill and Athens, Ga. orchestral pop solo artist Kishi Bashi leads the charge. The fest also added local mainstays Poetry 'n Lotion, Will Quinlan, The Porch Sessions, Oxford Noland, and Der to the bill and announced the addition of Seventh Avenue taco spot, Tequilas, to its venue lineup. Tickets are also $15-$20 and available at Microgroove, Mojo Books & Records, Daddy Kool, The Hub, and online.
