Swank Sinatra, Doesin, Surrogates, Black Coast Royals, Rival Three Atlanta bands hit the Venture, with a few locals rounding out the festivities. Swank Sinatra slathers doses of talk-hollered irreverent humor over thick crunchy guitar riffs and fast roiling rhythms in their loud, ball-busting experimental rock odes. Doesin has a similarly non-traditional vocal style and cheeky vibe with yelping calls wheeling over funkier groove-driven psychedelic/garage blues rock. The feminine vocals of Surrogates croon and husk over mathy time signatures and pounding low-end thrust. And Black Coast Royals is the band formerly known as lushbudget, which brings dusty drawling drama and the occasional unexpected tempo changes to their spacious alt-rock odes. St. Pete's Rival is also scheduled to perform. 8 p.m., The Venture Compound, St. Petersburg, $5. –Leilani Polk
Cultura Profética For months, I’ve been yearning to see a live Spanish-language band, and soon I (and Tampa Bay) will finally get my chance. Puerto Rican 12-piece Cultura Profética dabbles in a range of genres, from smooth jazz with sultry saxophone to roots reggae marked by skanky guitar play, and prompts listeners to ponder and fawn over their political and romantic lyrics. The band has released four albums, the last La Dulzura way back in 2010, and while there doesn’t seem to be any new material on the horizon, I’m ready for warm world music, nonetheless. 7 p.m., The Ritz Ybor, Ybor City, $23. –Cody Smith
I Am The Avalanche with Somos, Rust Belt Lights Vocalist/songwriter Vinnie Caruana reflects on the destruction Hurricane Sandy wreaked on his Long Beach hometown and his recovery from a life-changing back injury amid other subjects in the third full-length from his melodic hardcore band I Am The Avalanche. Wolverines peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart; this tour supports. 7 p.m., Epic Problem, Tampa, $15. –LP
