Now in its sixth year, Homegrown Hip Hop is a showcase of local up-and-coming emcees and producers from around the Tampa Bay area as presented by occasional Ear Buds contributor, local hip hop scene champion, B.A.S.E. Inc Music founder and talented emcee in his own right, Infinite Skillz.
He dropped his third and latest collab with producer Mr. J, Late to the Party, at the end of last year and continues to promote the 18-track effort, which balances bombastic bangers (see the title track and “Everything”) with introspective burners ala “Struggle 2.0” and retrofied narratives like Eazy-E-vibing “Boyz in the Burbs.”
The rest of the lineup touches on noteworthy artists who’ve performed at past Homegrowns, among them, smooth-flowing and Golden-Era soulful imagiin360 of Headnokka Fam, who also issued a high-quality full-length last year, The Citizen Prophet.
Details: Homegrown Hip Hop 6 with CLP Nation, Hardwhite, Headnokka Fam, Infinite Skillz, Mason Caine, Rival, Waystid Talent LLC, Sat., June 14, 8 p.m., Local 662, St. Petersburg, $10 advance/$15 dos.
