Scranton, Penn. pop punk outfit The Menzingers dropped a so-far-so-solid album Rented World today and along with it, they've released an amusing video for the LP's lead-off single, "I Don't Want to Be An Asshole Anymore."
The song, a triumphant blast of self-deprecation and righteous sing along-ability, gets the ol' movie murderer treatment in this video featuring Jason Vorhees (or, Jayson four-knees for copyright purposes) as he tries to start a new life. After realizing the errors of his teen-murdering ways, Jason embarks on montage-y quest for normalcy, doing things like online dating, putting up a poster with a kitten dangling in the air above the words "Hang in There," and giving his new crush the John Cusack treatment as he holds a boombox blasting the song above his head in her yard.
It's funny, it's dumb, it's just the thing you need to forget it's only Tuesday. Check out the video for The Menzingers'"I Don't Want to Be An Asshole" below. The band hits Orpheum in Ybor City on Wed., July 2.
