Tampa's Curtis Hixon Park is going to get another workout next Saturday, and if you think the park can't handle another event (it just hosted Mayor Bob Buckhorn's River O'Green event last Saturday and Gasparilla Music Festival the weekend before), then your theory is about to get a major test when it hosts Spring Beer Fling on March 29.

The eight acres of downtown waterfront green space are set to be transformed into a beach-themed booze fest that day (Samuel Adams, Sierra Nevada, and New Belgium will all be pouring their seasonal brews and signature beers as part of a beverage menu that also includes Twisted Tea, Angry Orchard cider, and Deep Eddy Vodka) and the party's nostalgic, retro-surf-rock musical lineup just secured a solid last-minute headliner in the form of West Palm Beach indie-rock darlings Surfer Blood.

The group (whose 2010 debut LP is titled Astro Coast) were just in town to headline the second-ever Whigfest in downtown St. Petersburg, but they're crossing the bridge and joining other Sunshine State sonic worshipers of all things sand & sun related for this one (Beach Day, Heavy Metals, The Intoxicators, and Pretty Girls all play support while one-man show Johnny Zoom is set to entertain attendees at a second stage).

Look below to see a live video from Whigfest, which finds Surfer Blood playing "Weird Shapes" from their latest LP, Pythons. Gates for Spring Beer Fling open at 1 p.m., and admission starts at $15. Curtis Hixon Park is located at 600 N. Ashley Dr. in Downtown Tampa. More information and tickets are available here.
