Everybody's favorite band that was instantly and forever forgiven for being from Brooklyn, The Hold Steady, has a new album coming out in a couple of months. It's called Teeth Dreams, and it will be here March 25 on the band's own imprint Positive Jams. To celebrate, the no-longer-sporting-that-fun-weird-mustachioed-keyboardist act has released a new tune, "I Hope This Whole Thing Didn't Frighten You," which you can listen to after the jump...
[jump]It's a taut, shimmering-guitar sort of cut, instantly recognizable as The Hold Steady but with a bit of classic college-rock edge and a surprisingly trippy breakdown. All told, the tune bodes well for Teeth Dreams, the first record from the group featuring contributions from guitarist Steve Selvidge, who joined the band as a touring sideman during the jaunt supporting 2010's Heaven is Whenever. The group has already slated some U.S. tour dates for late January and early February, though no published schedule shows any Florida shows yet.
So how about it? Are you still down with The Hold Steady, whose Craig Finn famously said he woke up in Ybor City years before he actually did? If not, if you're ruled by the trends of the times, you might just be missing out on some seriously high-quality rock 'n' roll when Teeth Dreams finally comes around.
