Jim Chambers Music Box Presents: Sunday Secret, Surviving the Mile, Extra Celestial, Five Alarm Fire Band Musician and one-time biz exec Jim Chambers has been using his industry experience and 15 years of grooming fledgling bands into bonafide stars (see: Maroon 5) to steer the next generation of players via Jim Chambers Music Box. (He just opened a rad new space for his full service music instruction and learning academy in Carrollwood this past July.) He’s been staging drum clinics and young musician showcases for several years now that expose some of his most talented students to audiences around Tampa Bay, and this Sunday evening affair features some Chambers rock favorites – SundaySecret (with teen lead Kiki piping a mesmerizing siren call) and Surviving the Mile (which has been known to bust out the Beastie Boys’“Brooklyn”). The fun kicks off at 5 p.m. (Skipper’s Smokehouse, Tampa)
Unearthly with Nihilistinen Barbaarisuus, Insatanity, Ebullition Unearthly hails from far south shores of Rio De Janeiro, and has been active in the blackened death metal circuit since 1998 with bassist M. Mictian at the helm; guitarist Felipe Eregion started growling and howling lead vocals on anti-Christianity, war and violence with Unearthly beginning in 2005. Philly outfit Nihilistinen Barbaarisuus (try saying that one five times fast) makes “ambient” black metal, essentially more contemplative quiet moments amid the devastation and gut-wrenching roars, ala the intro and outro of the title track off their 2015 LP, The Child Must Die. (Brass Mug, Tampa)
Archnemesis with Bells & Robes A double bill of unz featuring S.C. DJ/producer Archnemesis, whose style of “electro hip-hop soul” includes both original material, collabs and remixes of Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle,” Lykki Li’s “Gun Shot” and “Do You Mind” by The XX; and Bells & Robes, from Gainesville, a duo plying dreamy groovescapes with heavy sub-bass pulses and sweeping synthesizers. (Dunedin Brewery, Dunedin)
