A nice healthy serving of shows happening this Fri., Sept. 4. Check out the breakdown below, and peep what's coming up this weekend.

Panda Elliot Young Argentine songstress Panda Elliot made her big U.S. debut at a SXSW showcase earlier this year behind 2015 second full-length Forastera, its driving Latin rock sound dosed in elements of pop, folk and electro and driven by synths and guitars, her sensually sweet yet tough and commanding vocals delivering lyrics in Spanish about topics ranging from loose women to bull-fighting men. She also sings in English ala the recent YouTube video that finds her covering The Cure’s “Love Song” in a breathy, yearning croon. (New World Brewery, Ybor City)

Gruesome with Generichrist, Disevered The oozy, drippy font on the flyer for this Southern Darkness Fest concert screams death metal, as do the names of the bands on the bill. Relapse Records-repped headliner Gruesome makes it most obvious. The old school death-inspired group made up of Exhumed guitarist/vocalist Matt Harvey, ex-Malevolent Creation drummer Gus Rios, Possessed guitarist Daniel Gonzalez and Derkéta bassist Robin Mazen dropped a debut LP, Savage Land, earlier this year and its cover features creepy tribal cannibals chomping on severed arms. Delish. (Crowbar, Ybor City)

Chris Brown with Kid Ink, Omarion, Fetty Wap, Teyana Taylor, Migos, Compton Menace In US Magazine’s recent ‘25 Things You Didn’t Know About Chris Brown’ piece, the hip-pop entertainer with the domestic violence rap sheet revealed some surprising tidbits about himself. He’s the only artist who’s been incarcerated and had a No. 1 record at the same time (we assume he’s referencing “Loyal”– the album version dropped while Brown was locked up due to getting kicked out of a court-ordered drug rehab program). He owns 14 Burger Kings (dudes gotta eat). He got his first tattoo at age 13. (It was a rendering of Jesus; now, at 26, he has more than 50 and the freshest ones, a bull and the Venus de Milo, are situated on the back of his skull.) This year he dropped a collab LP with Tyga, Fan of a Fan: The Album, but since that particular rapper isn’t on this bill, we assume this tour is behind 2014’s X. (MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, Tampa)

Paint The Town Red, Stefan Scheuermann & Eddie Entreken, Ella Jet Heart-on-sleeve indie pop rock duo Paint The Town Red (acoustic guitar wielding singer-songwriters Justin Vilardi and Eric Best) hit the intimate Hideaway stage as joined by another two-person pairing, Mercy McCoy’s blues-roots groovers Stefan Scheuermann and Eddie Entreken, and rising young folk rock songstress Ella Jet. (Hideaway Café& Recording Studio, St. Petersburg)

Gringo Star Ranging from fuzzy up-tempo rock numbers like “All Yall” to whirly string-plucked psychedelic folk ala “World of Spin,” Gringo Star channels warm vintage sounds that have drawn glowing approval from critics and earned them multiple Daytrotter session appearances, not to mention positive write-ups from Spin and Paste magazines. The Atlanta quartet is working on a fourth full-length amid opening for The Relationship (the side project of Weezer’s Brian Bell), a co-tour with Dreamers, and this headlining East Coast run. (Dunedin Brewery, Dunedin)

End of Summer Jam: Daniel B. Marshall with Connor Zwetch, Shane & Emily The summer may be drawing to a close but you can still get your Labor Day weekend party jam on with Tampa-Nashville acoustic guitar-wielding country rock singer-songwriter Daniel B. Marshall, who leads a bill that also encompasses young indie pop songstress Connor Zwetch and finely harmonizing pop-roots duo Shane & Emily. (Skipper’s Smokehouse, Tampa)
