Plan B has unveiled the initial lineup for its third annual Ybor City-centric festival, and leading the fray is Philly area producer/musician RJD2, a favorite who plays fizzy, funk-grooving electronic music with much drama and finesse. He's put out nine albums (2004's Since We Last Spoke, 2010's The Colossus, and his 2011 collab with Aaron Livingston, The Abandoned Lullaby, are all fantastic), and the most recent is a soulful, hip hop-rooted LP with Philly-via-Atlanta rapper STS. The third annual Plan B Block Party also features a Nashville area rock band we haven't seen aroung these parts in a while, The Winter Sounds, and fresh highlights in two Athens, Ga.-spawned acts: brawny psychedelic rocker Chief Scout, the performance moniker of multi-instrumental songwriter Trey Rosenkampff, who recorded his debut EP with White Denim's James Petralli; and Wrenn, a singer-songwriter currently based in Las Vegas and making dreamy, hazy, silky pop songs.
Plan B has historically has featured a reunion and while nothing has been announced yet, a whole lot of other bands were confirmed in addition to the aforementioned nationals — NYC's Hank & Cupcakes, and local and Florida regional acts set & setting, SUNBEARS!, GreyMarket, Ketchy Shuby, Saskatchewan, The Sh Booms, The Woolly Bushmen, Plastic Pinks, RedFeather, HotBox, PLEASURES, MrEnc, The Winter Sounds, Samurai Shotgun, DieAlps!, Supros, Wax Wings, Empire Cinema, Me Chinese, Veiny Hands, COEDS, The Rosewoods, Poster, Jitters, Old Vices, MeteorEyes, Shae Krispinsky, Ark and Kristopher James.
