A few very different shows happening this Thurs., July 30. Breakdown below, plus a few others happenings

Rocky Votolato with Dave Hause, Chris Farren Seattle-based folk rock singer-songwriter Rocky Votolato arrives in town sans band, holding down the fort on the strength of his own tender high-toned vocal melodies, acoustic guitar strums and percussive thumps, and poignant lyrical quality that sparkles sweetly and surges urgently on eighth and latest LP, Hospital Handshakes. Votolato is supported by Philly’s Dave Hause (The Loved Ones), who has a harder punk-alternative quality to his odes, and Naples-brewed Chris Farren, the regular singer-guitarist of Fake Problems who gets retro fuzzy and pop-catchy in solo outings that include a fresh 7-inch, Where U Are. This tour is presented by and partially benefits Zero Platoon, a nonprofit founded and staffed by veterans seeking to aid and entertain active duty service members battling depression and other mental health issues while adapting to military life. Fifth Harmony with Natalie La Rose, Bea Miller, Debby Ryan & The Neverending The most successful alumni from the X Factor franchise, Fifth Harmony is a five-members-strong girl group with pitch-perfect vocal harmonies that soar over sticky dance pop; you likely know MidEast-tinged horn-tooted single “Worth It” featuring Kid Ink, which, along with the bass-stomping, lady power-promoting “BO$$” and the fluffier “Sledgehammer,” sold over 1 million digital downloads and was certified platinum by the RIAA. Dutch R&B-pop songstres Natalie La Rose did that riff on Whitney Houston's 1987 hit “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”; La Rose’s is simply “Somebody,” has different verses, and features guest spots by Jerimih. Bea Miller is another X Factor-spawned pop tart who’s a mere 16 years old, while Debby Ryan & The Neverending rounds out this femme-strong bill with a more folk-oriented sound anchored by the namesake singer-songwriter’s velvety, songbird sweet vocals.
