What a wet and rainy week. I hope the weekend proves drier, but if it doesn't, you will, at the very least, still have a brand new Weekend Tune-Up to soak up. We are into the second Friday of new music releases, and I'm still adjusting. How do you guys feel about it?

Tame Impala has finally released their much-anticipated third LP, Currents. If you thought '80s synths over '70s drums wouldn't sound lovely, then you obviously haven't heard their latest. It's good, maybe even great. Electro indie-rockers CHVRCHES is back with a new three-song EP. Typical high quality. The Statik Selektah record dropped a few weeks back, but I can't get over its excellent production and the slew of guest emcees he managed to round-up. "Alone" featuring Joey Bada$$ is one fine example. Oh yeah, Ratatat gave us a new LP today, Magnifique. Just buy the damn thing, it's noteworthy enough to merit intro and outro honors.

You know I have a sleeper tune every week, and this edition, it's from the Liverpool group Outfit; they just released a new album, Slowness, that will probably not get the press or awareness it shouldI included the stellar "Framed". Just think Hot Chip, but moodier and less dance-driven. Lots of great new tunes are waiting for you. Dive in.
