Another week has come and gone, which means you deserve a brand new Weekend Tune-Up. Let's go over the highlights. The June 2 edition of New Music Tuesday proved solid and included a least one must-listen, the new Jamie xx. I've been waiting to hear this album for about two years, and I can confidently say it was worth the wait, and not only doesn't disappoint but is a potential album of the year contender. Canada's Young Empires gets summer kicked off right with a groovy, summer pop gem. Florence  + The Machine dropped their much-anticipated third LP, dosing their sounds with a bit more soul this time around. It's been four years since we heard anything fresh from Beirut, and the Santa Fe indie folk outfit premiered a single off a forthcoming fourth, No No No, that's due out in September. Eternal Summers dropped their new LP on Tuesday, and just in time for their show at New World Brewery next Fri., June 12. I've included a stand-out track from Birth, the debut outing from electro-pop group Young Wonder, and have capped off the tune-up with Toronto crooner, The Weeknd. His latest is a sexy, synthy R+B slow burner. Play on.
