It's a righteous end-of-the-week in live music and a great way to start of a new month this Fri., May 1, with Heatwave taking over Ybor and various other noteworthy acts hitting other venues around the Bay. Breakdown below.

Eddie Spaghetti The Supersuckers guitarist and Bloodshot Records regular has a name that makes such a perfectly metered rhyme, it’s almost as if ‘Eddie Spaghetti’ had already been marinating in the collective subconscious like the bourbon you’d expect him to be swigging in between takes of cuts like “If Anyone’s Got the Balls,”“People Are Shit” and “The Value of Nothing.” Sans Supersuckers, he kicks out the sounds you’d expect to blow in with tumbleweeds and grit, barroom twangy roots rock n’ roll marked by Spaghetti’s drawling, dried-out-wry humor. This Tampa top makes for a rather exciting chance to see the Arizona artist in an intimate setting, for free. Show starts at 10 p.m. (Ella’s Americana Folk Art Café, Tampa)

Brillz With releases on reputable electronic music labels like OWSLA (a remix of Jack Beats’“About To Get Fresh”), Mad Decent(a two- track collab with Diplo) and Slow Roast (his 2013 full-length debut, Twonk), LA-brewed Brizz is rising in the EDM ranks as he takes dancefloors by storm with his poppin’ and fizzin’, bumpin’ and bouncin’ combo of trap, hip hop and bass music. (Amphitheatre, Ybor City)

The Black Honkeys with The Sisterhood of Soul & more On this night, the Bay area’s vet party starters and purveyors of soul, funk and Motown tunes are joined by potent vocal group the Sisterhood of Soul – featuring Theo Valentin, Shevonne Marie Philidor, Latraia Savage, Nalani Rothrock and Nicole Coleyfield Davids. Additional performances by The Stone City band and Greg Billings. (Local 662, St. Petersburg)

Joan Armatrading A friend once described Joan Armatrading to me as “the black British Joni Mitchell” because the UK-spawned songstress came up in the same era, and plied folk tunes with a similar tang, though Armatrading delivers a bluesier groove than her overseas sister, and has a deeper and more robust vocal quality. This rare date in Clearwater – which finds her culling material spanning four decades and more than 20 albums – is part of her last major world tour. It also marks her first ever run as a solo performer, and she’ll appear sans backing band, with only acoustic guitar and piano at her disposal. (Capitol Theatre, Clearwater)

WMNF Tropical Heatwave, Day 1 WMNF’s music fest and biggest event of the year returns for a 34th edition that spreads 60 performers over eight stages in Ybor City, continuing its tradition of a Friday kick-off followed by Saturday’s blow-out and touching on pretty much all genres imaginable – rockabilly, reggae, indie rock, surf-garage, swing jazz, zydeco, folk, funk, blues, hip hop, soul, Afrobeat and more. Add a wildly imaginative burlesque/cirque/marching band/performance troupe that delivers an eye-popping stage show to go with their equally vibrant music (MarchFourth Marching Band, which performs tonight), and you have a dazzling cherry to top the weekend’s festivities. Check out in this week’s story about Heatwave; other highlights tonight include sexy R&B crooner from Argentina, Gabriel Garzon-Montano and party-vibing roots-pop outfit David Mayfield Parade. (Cuban Club, Ybor City)

Tommy Roxx Tampa Bay-brewed Tommy “Roxx” Douthat dishes out deep-fried hard rock and Southern-sizzled boogie blues, his crusty backwoods twang set against big ball-busting instrumentals by bandmates Peter Kane (keys), guitarists/singers Tony Jones and Dave Bugee, drummer Brian “Bam Bam” Bradford and bass player/singer Dave Stevenson. (Skipper’s Smokehouse, Tampa)
